Meet Jay Morris
Jay Morris is a Savannah native, small business owner, and proud graduate of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.
He and his siblings were raised in Savannah, where his experiences growing up in working-class neighborhoods shaped his commitment to service, community empowerment, and fighting for those whose voices are too often overlooked.
Since 2020, Jay has been a vocal advocate for justice and policy change, stepping forward as a progressive Democratic leader ready to usher in a new generation of Georgia politics.
Growing up in Savannah, I witnessed firsthand the results of overlooked neighborhood, underfunded schools, and political leaders who don't understand the day-to-day struggles our people face. My upbringing taught me that real change starts with listening to the community, showing up consistently, and turning struggle into strength.
My journey has taken me from a working-class family to becoming a dedicated community advocate. I've worked alongside many digital advocates, community leaders, and youth who are doing the hard work every day. Through these experiences, I realized that our district deserves a representative who fights for opportunities; not excuses. That belief is what led me to step forward and run for State House.
My values were shaped early through my high school experiences and my time in JROTC, where I learned discipline, responsibility, and what it truly means to lead with purpose. The Air Force core values—Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do—became guiding principles that I still carry with me today. Those lessons taught me to push through challenges, stay committed to my community, and lead with intention, and they continue to influence how I serve my state, make decisions, and fight for the people of District 165 every single day.
My vision is a district where every young have a path to success, every family feels safe, and every neighborhood has the resources it deserves. I'm fighting for better opportunities, safer communities, stronger education, and real economic growth. Together, we can build a Georgia where every voice matters and every person has a chance to rise.
